By now, everyone has heard that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) offers significant fuel cost savings over traditional gas and diesel fuel. Taking a snapshot of costs today, how do the prices compare? According to fuel cost analysts, the national average price of CNG today is approximately $2.10 per gallon equivalent. This cost varies from state to state. Some of the lowest prices have been seen in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oregon, and Idaho, where prices are approximately $1.25. As the winter months approach, diesel prices are expected to rise above $4.00 per gallon with an increased demand for heating oil. The U.S. Energy Information Administration regularly updates gasoline and diesel fuel prices.
