Thirty years ago, the Franklin Street Transfer Station & Recycling Facility opened in Denver, Colorado, beginning what would become an important chapter in ET’s history in the solid waste industry.

ET provided design, preconstruction, and construction services for the original 67,000-square-foot facility, designed to accept 1,200 tons per day of municipal solid waste and process up to 200 tons per day of recyclable materials. More significantly for ET, Franklin Street was the first transfer station and materials recovery facility (MRF) completed by the company and the first of more than 25 solid waste projects ET has completed throughout the Four Corners region, establishing relationships and experience that have continued to grow over the past three decades.

This anniversary also has a direct connection to the expertise on ET’s team today. Mitch Grady, ET’s Senior Vice President of Risk Management and Project Executive, served as Project Manager / Superintendent for the construction of the Franklin Street facility. Mitch brings more than 35 years of construction and project delivery experience to ET, applying the knowledge gained over decades of complex projects to help our teams and clients manage risk and deliver successful facilities.

Thirty years later, Franklin Street represents more than a completed project. It marks the beginning of a long history of designing and building transfer stations, MRFs, hauling facilities, and other solid waste infrastructure throughout the region and across the country. We’re proud to celebrate this milestone and the people, relationships, and expertise that have carried forward from that first project.
