We are thrilled to announce that ET Design-Build has received not one, but two prestigious awards! Our transformative work on the Ohio Landfills Desulphurization Projects underscores our commitment to innovative design, environmental stewardship, and safety excellence.

First, our team was honored with the Award of Merit in the Water/Environment category at the Engineering News Record (ENR) Midwest Regional Best Projects competition. This accolade celebrates the groundbreaking desulphurization systems implemented at landfills in Fostoria and New Lexington, Ohio. These systems are the largest of their kind in the U.S. They remove more than 99% of harmful hydrogen sulfide (H2S) emissions and significantly improving air quality.

Adding to this success, the project received the Best Project in Safety award in a second round of ENR Midwest judging. This accolade highlights our dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the project. From site-specific safety plans to daily safety briefings and regular risk management reviews, safety was embedded in every aspect of these two projects.

These projects have not only eliminated sulfur odors, they also set a new benchmark for environmentally responsible landfill operations. Emissions are now well below Clean Air Act limits, showcasing how advanced technology and thoughtful design can benefit both communities and the environment.

But we’re not stopping there. The success of these two projects has led to the next phase of project development.  The same amazing team that completed Desulphurization Trains 1 and 2, was awarded and has recently begun work on Train 3 in New Lexington, OH.  The additional Train will expand capabilities to accomodate growth in the area for years to come.

Winning these awards is a testament to the power of collaboration. Together with WIN Waste Innovations, GHD, and Merichem Technologies, we’ve turned a significant environmental challenge into an opportunity to lead the industry toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
