Natural gas has quickly become an important asset to businesses and the environment. But what makes natural gas natural? It’s all in the processing.
The compressed natural gas process consists of cleansing raw natural gas of any impurities it may have. Raw natural gas contains multiple hydrocarbons that must be removed before it can be used. Removing the ethane, propane, butane, and pentanes makes the CNG emissions less harmful for the environment.
Once the impurities are separated from the pure natural gas, the gas becomes “pipeline quality” dry natural gas. This categorization is very important as most major transportation pipelines put strict regulations in place regarding the substance of the natural gas flowing through the pipeline. The raw natural gas must be purified.
Once the natural gas is processed, it can be transported and distributed to its proper location.
